Assessment Appertaining To Books Assassin's Apprentice / Royal Assassin (The Farseer Trilogy #1-2)
First re-read since finishing the series several years ago. Whether it was the book or me I can't tell, but this one felt a little slower-paced to me which made it harder to get through. I didn't really like Molly much when I was younger (not that I think Fitz is blameless- far from) and I honestly still don't care for her. I get where she's coming from and she's completely within her rights to be pissed with Fitz, but I just can't summon much interest or sentimental feeling for her character.

So I reread the series while waiting for my new volley of books to arrive and I have to say I genuinely forgot how good this book was. I never read past the first because it was such a slow burn aside from the movement into the northern kingdom at the end which just kind of happened all at once in my opinion but I was surprised by how much the content was a meaningful and slow build up. I don't think I'll read the rest of the series as it gets really kooky or so I've heard but it was a fun look

Loved it. I'm amazed at the difference between this series, and the Rainwilds series. Fitz is a character that you feel empathy for, that you sit there and wonder how he is going to solve his problems, and that you can't wait to get back to when you're interrupted. The Rain Wild series doesn't seem to have the same depth of character, although, I've read enough now to know they're related, so perhaps reading this series will give some insight into that one. I'm very happy that I received an ARC

Let me start off by saying that I liked these first two books in the series. A lot. I would have appreciated it if more was explained about Skilling in the first book, and what its limits are. That said, before I started reading this, I always thought it'd be a darker story, with an older character and some quest for revenge. Maybe someone can write a decent fan-fiction in that setting. Nonetheless, I really liked the story and I can't wait to start reading the 3rd one. Good job, Robin.

another 3.5 rating. i actually didnt like this as much as other Hobb fans but i did still enjoy reading it. i have a huge problem with authors who kill off animals and pets instead of working up the nerve to kill off characters. i havent read enough of this author's work to make that judgment call but it sure seemed like it in this book. that having been said i really couldnt put this book down near its end. it grew tense and exciting and i really couldnt have told you exactly how it would end.

ORIGINALLY POSTED AT Fantasy Literature.I read The Farseer Saga years ago and have since considered it one of my favorite fantasy epics. It's one (along with The Lord of the Rings and Memory, Sorrow and Thorn) that I often suggest to new fantasy readers. But after more than a decade of reading deeper and further into fantasy literature, I've often wondered how well this saga would now appeal to my more mature (I hope) palate. When Tantor Audio recently released The Farseer Saga on audio, I was
