The series ended well and the author is good. This book felt tacked on, almost like an afterthought. Many of the characters from the first two books were dead, and the one remaining large scale antagonist is dealt with rather quickly, leaving a huge denouement. That being said, it was worth sticking around to see what happened to the main character. The author weaves historical developments into the plot, altering them where necessary. At times it feels a bit like someone is forcing a puzzleI refer to this book as my BART book, meaning I only read it when I was using the Bay Area Rapid Transit system in the Bay Area of California. I did not ride every week or even every other week, which is why this took me such a long time to finish the final book in this trilogy. It's not because I didn't like the book. The final book in the trilogy. You might be disappointed if you are after some Crusade action as there isn't any here. This is about the fall of The Templars, something I'd never actually though about before. I had no idea they were brought down in such a way. We find a different Will in this book, one who is hell bent on revenge and grief stricken. He abandons the Templar knights and his position as head of the Anima Templi to help fight King Edward in Scotland. I liked the scenes in Scotland,

What an excellent and suspenseful thriller this action packed adventure turned out to be. It's narrative is concised and very clear with a good pace to keep all the myriad of characters easily in the narrative. It has the lot, believable characters that evolve and true within its vivid medieval world. Unable to put down.

I can't decide which of these three books was my favourite. But I have to say, this one was particularly epic because (view spoiler)[Will returns to Scotland and we finally meet his estranged family (hide spoiler)]!Like its predecessors, the interaction of the historical figures and events isn't just Templars vs Muslims, the book also considers other influences, political or otherwise, that intertwine with the plot of the book.This one focuses (as the freakin' title says) on the Fall of the
