Spirit (Elemental #3)
Hunter Garrity just wants to be left alone. He’s learned the hard way that his unusual abilities come at a price. And he can’t seem to afford any allies.
He’s up to his neck in hostiles. His grandfather, spoiling for a fight. The Merrick brothers, who think he ratted them out. Calla, the scheming psycho who wants to use him as bait.
Then there’s Kate Sullivan, the new girl at school. She’s not hostile. She’s bold. Funny. Hot. But she’s got an agenda, too.
With supposedly secret powers rippling to the surface everywhere around him, Hunter knows something ugly is about to go down. But finding out what means he’ll have to find someone he can trust…
I can't believe I'm saying this considering how much I have enjoyed the previous books, but I think this may end up being a DNF for me. I love the world that the author has created here but I just cant stand the main characters in this book. Hunter worked well as a secondary character and a love interest in the previous books, but as the main lead, I'm not so sure. Hunter has just infuriated me so much in this book, and its starting to take away from my enjoyment. He is reading like a pathetic
Spirit is the third book in Brigid Kemmerers Elemental series. I am giving this book 4 stars, not because I didnt like Hunter but just because I felt so frustrated throughout much of the book with him.We know that Hunters father was a guide. So as Hunters relationship with the Merrick brothers evolves, he is fighting with himself as to how he should feel towards them. Everything he has been taught to believe says Dont trust them. But they repeatedly help him, save him, support him. And he just
3.5 STARS This is gonna be tricky to review because I'm on a "spoiler tag cleanse" and holy ducklings did this book have a lot of spoiler tag worthy moments. What I love about this series is that the bigger plot supersedes everything else. For a book centered on 4 hot brothers with elemental powers, it's pretty easy to satisfy the fangirl among its loyal followers. It was always strange to me that Chris got the first book and Michael's only got a novella but as the story progresses, you realize
**Come enter our giveaway for "Spirit" right HERE until 4/23/14!!**I think this book took some really gutsy risks. I didn't enjoy this book as much as Gabriel's story, but I thought that Hunter was a wildly complex and interesting character, and the writing was fabulous as always. This book takes Hunter through his ambivalent relationship with the Merrick boys. Hunter was incredibly guarded and mistrusting, almost to the point that I disliked him because I didn't want him to hurt my beloved
Kudos's Ms Kemmerer... I did NOT see that coming. I am seriously impressed!Hunter Garrity, I loved him in Storm, I adored his friendship with Gabriel in Spark, and Spirit, despite the turbulence, ended up just as awesome! You questioning what 'turbulence' might mean? Well, see the problem is that Hunter has such a chip on his shoulder that it's so hard to not be frustrated with him. He distrusts absolutely everyone, even though our Merrick's (despite being aggressive fighty boys) continue to
I'm more blown away by this series with each instalment. Sure, the rating doesn't always increase, but those are niggles. On the whole, this stuff is made of awesome. In the first book, I couldn't stand Hunter; in the second, I was intrigued by him; now I just love him. This is, as the author herself said, not a book about Hunter finding romance; it's a story about Hunter finding himself - and the girl is just a small part of it.That said, Kate is fucking awesome. I think this is the first time I

Hunter isnt my fave of the characters.. it took way too long for him to trust anyone and everybody who was in actuality just trying to be his friend. I also wasnt feeling him and Kate together so that was another downside. I just really want these Elementals and Guides to have a massive showdown because I am a little bored of the meandering tortured pasts of each of these characters..I can't believe I'm saying this considering how much I have enjoyed the previous books, but I think this may end up being a DNF for me.
