Very good! For Hiroshima never to happen again! For wars never to take part of our lives ever again! Excellent characters and a very moving story. Perhaps it is a little bit old-fashioned, but despite that fact I think that all teenagers around the world should read it. This book is like nothing that I've read before. It's themes and portrayal of war as a bloody business, rather than heroic struggle, were shocking, as well as it's consequences. It was, also, my first contact with the events regarding World War II. It's not the conflicts, reasons or justifications, which aren't shown here, but rather survival under difficult circumstances and humanity which gives the weight to this amazing book. I read this book years, and years ago when I was a preteen, and still it's very precious to me. Sadako vivràRecuperare da adulti i grandi classici della letteratura per l'infanzia può non essere una buona idea, soprattutto se l'opera è datata e non fa nulla per nasconderlo (soprattutto nella traduzione).Lo stile didattico e l'enfasi spesso stucchevole di alcuni passaggi non inficiano, però, il valore di un'opera che interpreta con semplicità l'orrore della guerra, e sceglie di raccontarlo proprio a chi, nato dalle macerie di un mondo morto, ha il dovere di curarne i rari fiori.

Sadako e Schigeo sono bambini durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, sono bambini il 6 agosto del 1945 quando la bomba atomica esplode su Hiroscima e Sadako si sente bruciare. Di questo libro mi porterò dentro senza ombra di dubbio l'immagine sul finale, le (quasi) mille gru di carta d'orata pendenti dal soffitto attorno al letto di Sadako, che crede nella loro magia contro il potere oscuro di quelle radiazioni di ormai dieci anni prima.

Ho provato a leggerlo anni fa ma poi ho lasciato perdere dopo 50 pagine. Ho provato a riprenderlo in mano quest'anno pensando di riscoprire un potenziale bel libro che non ero riuscita ad apprezzare quando ero più giovane, ma neanche stavolta sono riuscita a finirlo.A mio parere anche se è una lettura abbastanza semplice nello stile e nonostante il tema drammatico e importante ( la bomba atomica ) è davvero di una noia mortale.
