"You make the rest of the beautiful things in the world cry for even trying at all. You make it hard for me to breathe. This book has been on my TBR for such a long time and for some reason I kept putting it off, but I'm so glad I finally decided to pick it up. It was such a BEAUTIFUL and exceptionally original story. Blake was adorable and sweet and I just wanted to give him a hug and Livia was a very strong, admirable heroine. Aside from them I also loved the other brothers Cole andLet me start by saying that this book was not at all what I thought it would be. I expected a sappy love story, and had no problem with that. But the story evolves into a truly gripping tale of family, love and acceptance. More than anything, it brings to light that the choices you make - the choice to ridicule or bully, or the choice to turn away in apathy, may not seem huge to you. But your smile could mean so much to someone who is normally overlooked. And a helping hand could change lives.
Four Healing Stars!There were things I loved and things I really didn't like about this book. It's basically about three adult foster-brothers and their close bond, their scars, their battles in life after childhoods riddled with pain. Each brother gets his history and current story within this long book. That, however, was the reason for the deduction of a star. Wow...not at all what I was expecting. I mean this in a bad way, obviously. Not a thing in this book seemed realistic to me. The characters weren't complex, instead they were predictable, silly, unlikeable and everything about them screamed "stereotype me". It's a pity, because I really wanted to like this book. This book started out as a 5 star read for me, then about halfway through, the book took a turn that annoyed me, but it still held my interest, so I kept going.
